I served in AmeriCorps while in undergrad. The position was part-time at a public library in rural, central Pennsylvania. I was purely looking for a position that would further my experience in libraries, though I had been keeping AmeriCorps in my head for post-grad service plans. I am so appreciative that I got to serve then, because the position exposed me to new experiences and I learned the stories of so many people who I still think about and keep in contact with.
I would be the person or the librarian that I am today without AmeriCorps.
