Blind Date with a Book 2016

We celebrated Valentine’s Day with our annual Blind Date with a Book display. I started the tradition last year and so far library users have adored it. I select some well-known and some off-the-beaten trail fiction, nonfiction, mystery, and biography books, warp them in brown paper + decorate, and write tags for them that with clues – kind of like an online dating profile. Personifying a story is an interesting exercise. On the one hand I want to make the profiles appealing so that they will be checked-out, but on the other had how would you personify a murder mystery?  Very interesting. Visitors love this display, though, and it brightens things up a bit in the cold February doldrums.
